Molygraph Droid Grease Amplifies Gearbox Performance with Remarkable Enhancements in Wear and Friction Factors
3 min read | 01 August 2023
Overview
Industrial robot lubrication is critical to ensure that not only is the robot in question operating at its peak but continues to do so under a prolonged and consistent period of time. A hot forging components manufacturer was facing issues of overheating and frequent relubrication in their fleet of robots. They required greater productivity and efficiency and Molygraph proposed Droid Grease 0, a grease specifically developed for industrial robot lubrication. Approved by Ford India and other industrial robot servicing organizations, Droid Grease 0 has changed the game in robot lubrication and performance.
Challenge
Industrial robots are involved in material handling, assembly, or dispensing, and over time they can become exposed to the effects of wear and corrosion. This is a result of the extensive movement that robots perform each and every day, often for long periods of time. The customer was using Fanuc M900, IB 400L, J4, J5, and J6 series of industrial robots in the hot forging plant. The following were the core issues faced by the customer
- Premature wear in reduction gears where lubrication is critical.
- Frequent relubrication and maintenance downtime.
Solution
DROID GREASE
Droid Grease 0 is a semi-synthetic lithium-based grease specially designed to lubricate the reduction gears in industrial robots.
A special additive package helps control the friction regime of bearings to increase the life of robot reducers. The following are the key properties of Droid Grease.
Key Benefits:
- Good oxidation stability over elevated temperatures.
- High load bearing and anti-wear properties.
- Excellent pumpability even in cold conditions
- Protection against rust and corrosion.
- Low iron pick-up after prolonged use, complying with Robot manufacturers’ requirements.
