A solar panel mounting systems provider switched to Molygraph Smoothform® 2900 TD oil, saving time, money, and manpower, while reducing component rejections.

A leading brand of Solar Tracker and EPC Tracker in West India has in-house manufacturing of Module Mounting Structures for solar panels. During the manufacturing process, the customer was using a highly viscous and tacky rubber oil which was very difficult to remove during the washing process. This led to a higher percentage of rejects of the finished product after hot dip galvanizing.

Customers reached out to Molygraph for a solution and our technical experts suggested SMOOTHFORM® 2900 TD which is a high-performance oil.

• Due to its stickiness, the oil layer was difficult to remove by the washing process.
• A hot bath (20min@60°C) is used for cleaning (1000 liters tank with Heaters) with Soap powder. But after hot bath cleaning also, the oil layer was persistent at intricate areas of many parts.
• This necessitated re-cleaning of parts with cotton manually by 8-10 workers.
• After cleaning, all parts are sent for the Hot dip galvanizing process. Due to the presence of the oil layer, 4-5% rejection was observed after the galvanization

The manufacturer reached out to Molygraph for a strong cleaning solution to remove the oil layer from the component. Our experts studied the application and explained to the customer that the use of an additional cleaner would only increase the cost & processing time.
