Overview
Bearings in cold rolling mills are subjected to harsh environmental conditions. Heavy loads, high temperature and dust and water ingress are a common phenomena. Using a conventional EP 2 grease can cause severe problems such as premature bearing failure, grease thinning and running out and frequent maintenance and downtimes which directly affect productivity.
A reputed manufacturer of stainless steel strips was faced with all of the above problems and asked Molygraph to provide a solution.

Result
In total 8 bearings were lubricated with Molygraph MFG 220 Plus with an initial fill of 20 kg. MFG 220 Plus was tested against their current grease running side by side on two machines. Observations were as follows
- After 30 days current grease had totally dried up and wear debris were clearly visible.
- With continuous running for 30 days MFG 220 Plus was still in good condition and no wear debris were visible.
Elimination of oil based rust preventive without any additional process
