The critical bearings of Pellet mills & Hammer mills in the animal feed industry operate under harsh conditions at high speeds and heavy loads. A leading animal feed manufacturer in north India was facing the problem of grease thinning and thus frequent relubrication.

• A customer has a Pellet mill that has 8 bearings operating at around 70°C while rotating at 1000 RPM and a Hammer mill with 2 bearings operating at around 90°C rotating at 3000 RPM.
• The grease being used earlier in the bearings was thinning out at working parameters so the customer had to relubricate frequently.
• Grease residue remaining in the lubrication line led to a poor supply of grease to the bearings.
• This led to a loss of production time and excessive consumption of grease. Also a potential threat to the operating life of expensive bearings.
